Thank you to Havens parents Charlene Reis and Paul Arenstam of Summer Kitchen Bake Shop for the successful “pilot” pizza pop-up yesterday afternoon in front of Havens. Families who ordered dinner online ahead of time (before it sold out!) got to pick up their meals (pizza, salads and chicken tenders) when they picked up their kids from school. It just doesn’t get more convenient than that! In addition to providing these families with dinner and saving them time, the pop-up also raised funds for Havens, as Charlene and Paul generously donated 15% of the proceeds to HPC. It was a win-win for all involved, and we are grateful to Charlene and Paul for their talents and generosity.
Please remember that the next HPC meeting will be on Tuesday, April 10, at 7:00 pm in the Havens Library. Select Havens staff members will be our guest speakers that evening (after working all day with our kids) to present their work on gender identity and expression as it relates to understanding the whole student. We encourage all families to attend this informative presentation. Another very important topic of discussion will be PUSD’s funding requests for next year and HPC’s recommendations. Please join us for this substantive agenda and the penultimate HPC meeting of the year.
Don’t forget to purchase your tickets for Spring Fling, the annual fundraiser benefiting all 3 elementary schools. The gala will be on Friday, April 20, at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center and will include cocktails, dinner, dancing and a fabulous silent auction. For the silent auction, please remember that families with kids in grades TK-2 have been asked to assemble a Wine & Cheese Basket, and grades 3-5 have been asked to put together a Restaurant Gift Card Basket. Please see Room Parent communications for details. Also part of Spring Fling is Comings & Goings, which captures kindergartners (comings) and fifth graders (goings) in lovely photographs as they begin and end their elementary school years. Details have already been sent out via Room Parent communication channels, but a big thank you to Elise Hatchell and Jennifer Hong for leading the Comings & Goings project for all 3 schools.
Thanks and have a wonderful Spring Break,
