Does anyone else feel a bit panicked now that Spring Break is over and summertime nearing? This is such a busy and fun time of year there isn’t much time to worry that I’m behind in registering for summer camps! Musical concerts, art show, book fair, 5th grade pool party, 4th grade Gold Rush Camp, Havens Spring Swing Family Dance (see below!) and so much more are yet to come.
We had our final HPC meeting of the year last night and our Math Intervention Support Specialist, Jessica Roine, provided a sheet with great ideas to keep math fun and alive during the summer. There are of course great online math games, but tangrams, puzzles, sudoku, dice games, dominoes, and card games are all great for math skills. Even counting, spending and earning money for an ice cream is great.
I’m very thankful that our Teacher Librarian, Laura Remer, and our Reading Intervention Support Specialist, Giena Vogel, were able to join us and share some inspiration for reading this summer too. If you haven’t done so, check out our library homepage. There are wonderful resources such as online and interactive books (Tumblebooks), audio books, CultureGrams (to learn all about world cultures), book lists for all different age levels and more. https://piedmont.follettdestiny.com/common/servlet/presenthomeform.do?l2m=Home&tm=Home
Lastly, a final reminder that our Good Eggs fundraiser comes to an end on 4/30. If you haven’t placed an order with them, go for it! Their products are delicious. All details are below, but if we get 9 more families to place an order by 4/30 then we will earn a $500 bonus which we can put to work in support of our school. We will also receive 5% on all orders from existing customers through 4/30. Remember you must use our promo code HAVENS19. Your support is appreciated.
Hope to see you at our upcoming springtime events,
Laura Amen, HPC President
