Havens Highlights

As Anne mentioned, Havens Highlights is your best source for school information.  Highlights contains key reminders for the coming week as well as the weekly Principal Report and HPC Update.  It also includes announcements from various groups such as: Library, Lunch Service, Lost and Found, SERVES (community service), After School Enrichment just to name a few.  Please read it! Anyone having trouble receiving Highlights should contact Melanie Reed at

Room Parents*

Once school gets underway, each classroom will have two room parents.  One is in charge of classroom specific volunteer needs and the other is in charge of classroom communications.  This is another way to communicate school reminders and get the word out about classroom comings and goings.

*Come to the Back to School Coffee on the first morning of school to learn more about becoming a room parent – date/time included below.

Volunteer Opportunity

Throughout the year I will be asking for volunteers (please don’t start to run the other way when you see me!).  The first opportunity for volunteers will be on our Picture Days 8/15 and 8/16.  I’ve helped in years past and it really is fun to see the kids show up in their best clothes (ok, only some kids do that!) and try so hard to get the best smile for you.  If interested you can sign up here:

Lice Checks

Everyone’s favorite topic!  After a successful first year, we are bringing back NitPixies to provide on-site lice checks.   Our first of 3 checks through the year will be Saturday, August 18, from 8:30am-11:30am in Ellen Driscoll.  Sponsored by the parents clubs of all 3 elementary schools, these convenient checks were requested and organized by parents who care and want to prevent this nuisance from entering the classrooms.  Enroll for all 3 lice checks for just $12. Go to the Piedmont Store ( to purchase and sign up for this helpful service.  A SignUpGenius is posted there so you can reserve your time slot.
