Havens Parents Club

The Havens Parents Club (HPC)is the liaison between the school and parent community,andmeets once a month. The first meeting is Tuesday, August 29,at 8:45 am in Ellen Driscoll Playhouse. Dana Lung(dana.lung@stanfordalumni.org)is the HPC President for 2017-18. Please attenda few meetings and/or email Dana to find out about the easy and fun ways to contribute to your child’s school and how you can getinvolved!  Please alsocheck out the HPC website at www.havensparentclub.comfor more information.

Lunch Program

Havens offers school lunches throughFood4Thought Catering(www.f4tc.com,code: 11c), which sells a wide variety of nutritiousand made-from-scratch meals for approximately $6.75each (prices vary slightly). Please contact our Lunch Service Co-Chairs Frannie Chin (frannie.chin@gmail.com) orStephanie Stone (stephanie.r.stone@gmail.com) for informationon settingup your online account, ordering meals, dietary restrictions,and volunteeringto serve lunch, which is a great way to see your child(ren)during the day.  A portion of each meal benefits the Havens Parents Club so by ordering lunch, you save time and support our school.

If you have any silly/simple or hard/uncomfortable questions to ask just contact Tara Boris (taraboris@gmail.com; c: 917-992-5295), who is the HPC New Families Chairpersonand has been a Havens mom for 7 years. Tara has 4 children, currently 2 at Havens (Grades2 &K) and knows what it’s like to be a new mom, from another city, from a different country and to have a ton of questions!

Getting to school

Parking is limited.  Please consider walking or biking to school. There are bike racks at the Oakland Avenue entrance.

Before school

School grounds officially open at 8:20am, and there is no supervision before this time.  If you need care for your child earlier,Schoolmates is the perfect solution.

Schoolmatesis a before and after school child-care program for children grades K-5.  It opens at 7:30am and will ensure your child is taken to class on time. Register online, each month throughthe Piedmont Recreation Department at https://apm.activecommunities.com/piedmontrecreation/Home.

NEW for Transitional Kindergarten students, Mini-Matesextends the TK day!  In thisprogram, children will enjoy circle time, sharing time, literature, art, science, indoor and outdoor play, dancing and dramatic play.  To register,use https://apm.activecommunities.com/piedmontrecreation/Home.

After school

Needa couplehours of after-school care? Here are a few options:

HPC offers fantastic After-SchoolEnrichment(ASE)classes!  Class details and sign ups can be found at:http://www.sportability.com/havens.Watch for announcements in Havens Highlights andcontact Cindy Hinman (cindy.kok@gmail.com), Samantha Nobles-Block (samantha.nobles@gmail.com) or Carey Valentine (carey.valentine@gmail.com)with questions. Registration begins on August 15and classes start the week of September 5.
